All beaches of Syracuse, the most beautiful of Sicily, are out of town, on the south shore. Some of them are accessible by public transport from the bus station. With private means you can reach the most beautiful and pristine beaches of Vendicari or Pachino.
Solarium Forte Vigliena
Within walking distance, if you do not want to take the car to go to sea, this Solarium is great for sunbathing and let cool sea breeze, also emphasizes a view of the chateau Maniace.
The structure is currently the only solarium with free admission for the summer season in the historic center of Ortigia in Syracuse.
Arenella is probably the most beautiful beach near the city. Even here the sand is white and the sea is spectacular.
HOW TO GET THERE
–By bus: from the bus station 50 meters from the Hostel it is possible to reach Arenella by bus n.23 and 29 (one every half hour) getting to the beach in about 15 minutes. The same bus takes you to the peninsula of La Maddalena in the stunning marine reserve of Plemmirio, and to Ognina with beautiful flat rocks. Both in Plemmirio and Ognina you can snorkel and scuba dive and there are several diving centers where you can rent equipment.
Bus schedules are on the board in the common area.
–By car: from the hostel go right, go past the train station and once you get to the big roundabout turn left to Via Columba. At the end turn right taking Via Elorina. From there follow the signs to Arenella, Plemmirio or Ognina (a few kms.).
White sandy beach and turquoise sea. Fontane Bianche is the most popular beach near Syracuse. Lidos, public beaches during the day and night clubs, discos and pubs in the night, for the amusement of young and less young locals and travellers.

Marchesa o Pineta del Gelsominet
Wonderful beach close to the river Cassibile, There are showers in the wood close by but no umbrellas and sunbeds. Free entrance but the parking is quite expensive and there are no other places where you can park the car It is located 3.5 km from the highway exit Cassibile.
HOW TO GET THERE
Can be reached only by car/motorbike (15 minutes from Syracuse) From the hostel go right, go past the train station, via Ermocrate and go over the big roundabout towards “Noto-Avola” and all the directions (Catania included). Continue past the cemetery with a first set of traffic lights, and past the second traffic light.
Keep on going straight ahead. When you see the blue sign to Catania (on the right) slow down a bit but continue past the exit Catania, and after 100 meters take the first left (following the green sign to Gela-Noto-Avola Rosolini: it is the same road to Catania but in the opposite direction).
Once on the motorway Siracusa-Noto-Avola-Rosolini, take the exit CASSIBILE and then take the SS115 to Avola. After 3.5 km you cross a bridge. 200 m after the bridge on the left you see a rural building with a sign “Foce del Cassibile”. Slow down and in front of the building turn right into the small road where the sign”Pineta of Gelsomineto” is located, go straight past the underpass and after few meters you reach the entrance of the parking
